The Bank & Its Licence

Who you are contracting with, and under whose supervision.

Ask the desk
Who is Everbright Bank Europe?
Everbright Bank Europe is the working name of China Everbright Bank (Europe) S.A., a credit institution incorporated in Luxembourg and supervised by the CSSF. It is the European banking platform of China Everbright Bank Co., Ltd. Full detail is on the entity page.
Is Everbright Bank Europe a branch or a separate company?
A separate company. It is a Luxembourg société anonyme registered under RCS Luxembourg B213668, not a branch or representative office. It holds its own banking licence and its own balance sheet.
What are the bank’s registration identifiers?
RCS Luxembourg B213668, LEI 22210018MLEVW7CTGU78, SWIFT/BIC EVERLULL. Registered office: 52 Boulevard Prince Henri, L-1724 Luxembourg.
Which countries can the bank serve?
The Luxembourg licence passports throughout the European Economic Area. Active corridors run into Germany, Italy, France and the United Kingdom, and instruments have reached beneficiaries in 46 jurisdictions.
Does the bank serve retail customers?
No. The franchise is corporate and institutional: corporates, financial institutions, fund promoters and public-sector borrowers. There are no retail current accounts or consumer mortgages.
How are deposits protected?
Eligible deposits are covered by the Fonds de Garantie des Dépôts Luxembourg (FGDL) up to €100,000 per eligible depositor. See our legal notices for the full statement.

Trade Finance & Guarantees

Instruments, rulebooks and pricing mechanics.

Ask the desk
Which guarantees and bonds can the bank issue?
Advance payment guarantees, performance bonds, bid and tender bonds, retention money and warranty guarantees, financial and payment guarantees, standby letters of credit, customs and VAT guarantees, rental and lease guarantees, and shipping letters of indemnity.
Under which rules are guarantees issued?
ICC URDG 758 or ISP98, and under national law where a public authority requires a specific local form. The applicable rulebook is stated on the face of every instrument.
How is the cost of a bank guarantee calculated?
A risk commission expressed as a percentage per annum of the guaranteed amount, plus a one-off issuance fee, SWIFT transmission, and where applicable correspondent re-issuance and bespoke wording review. Commission depends on instrument type, validity, the applicant’s internal rating, the beneficiary’s jurisdiction and any cash cover. You can model this with our guarantee pricing calculator.
Can a guarantee be issued to a beneficiary outside Europe?
Yes. The bank issues directly from Luxembourg where the beneficiary accepts European bank risk, and otherwise re-issues through a local correspondent under its counter-guarantee. Instruments favouring Chinese beneficiaries can be supported by a counter-guarantee from the parent network.
What is the difference between a letter of credit and a standby letter of credit?
A commercial letter of credit is a payment mechanism: the bank pays on presentation of compliant trade documents. A standby letter of credit is a default instrument: it is drawn only if the applicant fails to perform, and functions economically like a guarantee. Both are defined in our glossary.
Does the bank support cross-border RMB settlement?
Yes. The bank participates in CIPS alongside SEPA and SWIFT, and offers RMB settlement accounts and documentary flows for European counterparties trading with China.

Bond Services & Debt Capital Markets

Issuance, listing and underwriting.

Ask the desk
What is the minimum size for a bond mandate?
Benchmark European transactions are typically arranged from €100 million upwards. Smaller private placements and tap issues are considered where the credit and the investor base support them.
Where are bonds listed?
Principally the Luxembourg Stock Exchange, including the Luxembourg Green Exchange (LGX) for green, social and sustainability-linked paper. Other recognised European venues are available where investors require them.
Can I estimate issuance costs before mandating?
Yes. The bond issuance calculator produces an indicative all-in cost and coupon schedule from tenor, size, rating and currency inputs. Figures are indicative and not a binding offer.
How can a bond panel or certificate be verified?
Use the bond panel and QR verifier. Instrument references can also be confirmed directly with the Luxembourg desk.
Does the bank underwrite green and sustainability-linked bonds?
Yes. Green, social and sustainability-linked structures are underwritten and listed on LGX, subject to framework review and second-party opinion. Our ESG framework sets out the approach.
